テンデンスは“ジャパン”をテーマに、日本の文化や四季を腕時計のデザインに取り込んだユニークなライン「JAPAN ICON」をリリースいたします。日本文化の繊細な美しさを、テンデンスのダイナミックな表現技術と癒合させたアーティスティックな腕時計は一度見ると忘れられない印象的なデザインです。デザインは全部で3種類。海外でも人気の高い浮世絵から、葛飾北斎の名画「冨嶽三十六景神奈川沖浪裏」や、東洲斎写楽の役者絵「三代目大谷鬼次の江戸兵衛」をデザインに落とし込んだモデル。日本の四季からは日本の国花の一つである「サクラ」が立体的にデザインされています。

2020年には生誕260年を迎えた、日本の有名絵画である葛飾北斎の描いた「冨嶽三十六景神奈川沖浪裏」をデザインに落とし込んだHOKUSAIモデル。創設者であり、テンデンスのコアデザイナーであるガブリエル氏が日本に来日する際飛行機の中で見た美しい富士山をジャパンアイコンにデザインするため、デザインモチーフとして選ばれました。富士山は日本人にとって神聖的な存在であると同時に、世界遺産としても登録されている地球の宝です。迫力のある冨嶽三十六景の波をデザインするために、ダイヤルをレイヤー構造にし、奥行きを表現しています。また、時計の裏蓋には波をイメージした刻印を施し、海に囲まれた自然豊かな日本を表現しています。

The "HOKUSAI" model incorporates the design of Hokusai Katsushika's "Fugaku Sanjurokkei: Kanagawa Okinawan Naniura", which celebrates the 260th anniversary of his birth in 2020. In order to design the powerful waves of the 36 Views of Mount Fuji, the dial has a layered structure to express depth. The case back of the watch is engraved with the image of waves, expressing the rich nature of Japan surrounded by the sea.

侍、歌舞伎、舞妓など、海外から見た日本は独特な進化を遂げた国と認識されています。東洲斎写楽が描いた「役者絵」は日本でも有名ですが、その作者には多くの謎が残されています。今回日本をイメージする上でやはり着物や歌舞伎などは欠かせない存在であると同時に、それをダイナミックに腕時計にデザインするのは非常に困難を極めました。そこでSHARAKUモデルは東洲斎写楽が描いた「役者絵」の印象深く動きのある、ダイナミックなイメージを取り入れゴールドとブラックをベースにしてデザインされました。中心には写楽の役者絵を立体的に配置し、ストラップや裏蓋、スリーブには日本の伝統的な鱗のような「青海波(せいがいは)模様」をデザインしています。

Oniji Otani III's Edo Hyoue, an actor's painting by the enigmatic artist Toshusai Sharaku, is famous in Japan and an icon of Japan worldwide. The "SHARAKU" model is designed with a gold and black base to express the impressive and dynamic image of the Yakusha-e. The center of the watch features a three-dimensional image of Sharaku's yakusha-e, while the strap, case back, and sleeve of the watch box are decorated with a traditional Japanese scaly "seigaiha" pattern.

世界中の観光客が日本へ訪れる、日本の春は自然界からの素晴らしい贈り物”サクラ”を楽しむことができます。日本のサクラシーズンは、一瞬で終わってしまうところへの美しさもあると日本では言われています。テンデンスはその一瞬の美しさをデザインとして表現しました。フェイス部分にはマザーオブパールを使用し、上品なピンクのグラデーションを表現。2層になった桜のデザインは桜並木の奥行きを、ストラップへデザインされたサクラの花びらは散っていく様子を表現し、細部にわたって日本の“サクラ”を楽しむことができる限定ウォッチです。

The transience and beauty of cherry blossoms (SAKURA) in full bloom, which only last for a moment is well known around the world. The two-layered cherry blossom design represents the depth of a row of cherry trees, and the sakura petals on the strap represent the falling blossoms.
